Navigating
around this interactive Mediterranean Sea Map from Google,
It's easy to see how the various countries influence each others
cuisines.
You can hop from Spain to France, to Italy,to Greece and so on, all the
way round until you reach Morocco and then jump across the straits of
Gibralter back to Spain.
The Moors had a great deal of influence on Spanish cuisine over the
centuries, introducing exotic herbs and spices, which are still evident
today in dishes like
Gambas
Pilpil.
Almost all the Mediterranean countries produce Olives and, of course,
Olive Oil, some of the best of which comes from Spain, Italy and
Greece.
Use the map to plot your own Mediterranean journey - you
never know - it may really happen.
